A Dorel twin-over-full metal bunk bed provides you with a double bed on top of a double or queen size bed underneath. Although many styles are available, mission style wood frames are usually purchased for the robust structure and simple design. This type of bunk is not difficult to assemble, but having a helper can make a quicker assembly. Most manufacturers offer everything you need to mount your bunk, including bolts, strips, and rails. Mattresses are usually not included, but the retailer can recommend the appropriate size when you buy your bed.
Insert the cylindrical nuts provided with your bunk into the mounting holes on both ends of each side rail. Adjust the headboard against a wall and place the side rails. By inserting two of the screws provided through the headboard and into the rails on each side. Connect the other end of the rails to the bracket by inserting two screws through the holes in each side of the bracket.
Align the center support on the frame of the filled bed. Place the frame of the full bed mounted on the location you have selected for the bed. Align the two remaining side rails so that the holes, in the end, are aligned with the holes. Install the railings on both sides of the double bed. Install the slat kits that come with your bunk in the individual frames. Lift the double bed and align the temples with the holes in the lower part of the head and foot legs. Make sure all the screws are tightened so that the bunk bed frame does not move or wobble, and install the mattresses.
